Description
DDSA (K-12) is liquid succinic anhydride
manufactured from maleic anhydride and a
mixture of branched olefin isomers. The olefin
side chain is primarily the C12 tetramer of
propylene. The double bond is retained.

Applications
• Low-viscosity epoxy hardener yielding long pot life, semi-flexible resins, well suited for
electronics.
• Corrosion inhibitor for non-aqueous systems such as lubricants, hydraulic fluids, greases
and fuels.
• Detergent additive for metal cleaning.
• Co-monomer and internal plasticizer in polyester resins.
• Chemical Reactions: DDSA may be hydrolyzed to the dibasic acid with hot water. Alkali
metal salts are readily prepared by treatment with the aqueous bases.
